We had very early departure - in the 6th mornings, and the hotel was reserved by the principle of pedestrian availability of the airport. However, the hotel was very pleasant: big and convenient rooms, not bad restaurant, pleasant pool.

The room is not that good. Food and drink prices way too high compared even to better hotels in Medan.

The 'Couldn't Crae Less' Hotel - One of the Worst.

This hotel promised to be very good. Unfortunately the staff seldom smiled or communicated and overcharged horrendously for food and even water. Almost $3 for a small water which was about ten times the price at a local store. I understand that hotels need to charge for service etc but this was highway robbery. We often stay at a range of hotels in Indonesia so do not consider this as just needlessly complaining. It is a warning!
Upon arrival, asked where a good local restaurant, They suggested their cafe which turned out to be poor quality, pre packaged food at staggering prices. My 'Lamb Kebabs' were minuscule and there was a morsel of meat somewhere on each piece of fat skewered to a stick. Served with coagulated gravy and boiled Birdseye vegetables - literally two teaspoons' full. My partner's chicken burger was a warmed up patty from a box.
The breakfast was terrible. it included uncooked chicken in one dish, awful, tasteless, brown muck which they called 'coffee' and poorly and cheaply slapped together Indonesian food. They attempted to charge for an omelette my partner ordered. Dessert on our first night was a piece of cake and a donut, similarly charged for at astounding prices.
There is a plush Chinese restaurant adjacent to the lobby which,has a menu displayed out front but prices are ominously omitted.
The wifi in the hotel is almost unusable. We were unable to even send an email at times.
For the price, this hotel should be doing a lot more for their guests. This is certainly the worst hotel that we have stayed in in Indonesia. We preferred the 'cell-like' room and lumpy bed at the backpackers' end of town. At least they were friendly.
Restaurant Tip:
Go elsewhere. There are two excellent Indo malls within walking distance and some other great options.

Basic business hotel in a handy location

A useful location for an overnight stay on the way into (or out of) Sumatra - it's not far from the airport and a taxi ride from the bus station for travelling on. The decor is nothing special, but it has a good restaurant and the staff were able to provide details of where to catch the bus to my next destination.

Really nice hotel with good service
close to the airport, shuttle service every hour, clean and good sized rooms

It's the 2nd time we stayes at Hotel Polonia and the decission was already clear for us before we booked because the last time we were already satisfied. The service changed this time - to the even better. Before we stayed on the 2nd floor and had wifi available only at the lobby. this time we had a room on the 5th floor and had wifi for our room. much appreciated. Very helpful and nice staff that speaks English.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Lake Toba - best rent a car with driver to get you there.
Sun Plaza - big shopping mall "just around the corner"

A good place to land for a night

I stayed one night in the Polonia Hotel as I was on my way to another destination from Medan. The hotel is close to the airport, and the hotel provided shuttle service. The room was clean and the air conditioning worked well. I did not get to eat much of the breakfast as I had an early plane out the next morning, but they did try to make sure I at least got some coffee and juice, and even a bit of toast. I was happy with the staff, who tried to make my time there pleasant.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
This hotel is not real close to the shopping and night life of Medan, but it is easy to get a taxi and not too much money. Sun Plaza is a large mall with many eateries, and Merdeka Walk has several hawker type of restaurants.

Fine hotel with good facilities

The hotel was generally nice to stay however the furniture in the room we stayed were pretty old. Overall the stay at the hotel was enjoyable
